Jay Z tops list of Grammy nominees

(CNN) — Jay Z once rapped about his 99 problems. But this number will have him smiling: nine Grammy Award nominations and the leading contender.

Other top nominees are rapper Kendrick Lamar, rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams. They each received seven nominations.

Daft Punk, Drake, Lorde, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift also dominated the list.

Some of the nominees for the 56th Grammy Awards performed during a CBS special Friday night. The awards ceremony will be held on January 26.
