Sleet and snow forecast for Thursday and Friday
ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – The combination of deep winter cold and a southern tracking storm will bring us the threat of accumulating snow.
The first part of this winter stew is the cold air that is diving south from Canada and the northern plains. That cold front is set to arrive this evening with gusty winds and quickly dropping temperatures. The second piece is a low pressure area of energy that is tracking from the Pacific Ocean into Mexico. These two will combine Thursday to bring the winter mix in the afternoon. Sleet could begin just before the Thursday evening commute, and then change to all snow Thursday night and Friday.
The track of this storm is still a question mark, but several inches of snow could be on the ground by late Friday. Another southern low will track towards us on Sunday with more snow possible.
