Health officials warn clinic closures could spread
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Officials with the St. Louis Regional Health Commission met Wednesday night to discuss the closure of the ConnectCare Clinic in University City and where low income families should go for care.
ConnectCare served thousands of uninsured people.
“Where do I go” and “can you help me” are some of the questions former ConnectCare employee Rosetta Keeton said she has been asked since the closure.
“They depended on us a lot,” Keeton said.
Officials said without the expansion of Medicaid more services like the ones provided at ConnectCare will end.
Missouri is one of the states that has not yet opted to do the expansion.
It was part of the Affordable Care Act.
At this point there are still care options for low income families.
