More hot-spot police patrols start Monday
ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – St. Louis police are targeting two south city neighborhoods in the latest ‘hot-spot‘ policing efforts. The stepped up patrols and enforcement starts Monday morning.
Chief Sam Dotson and other commanders will hold roll call at 10:00am at Gravois Plaza on Bamberger, then officers will fan out into the targeted neighborhoods of Tower Grove South and Gravois Park.
City police have been focusing on ‘hot spot’ policing for some time now in areas that see spikes in crime. Under the plan, extra police converge on neighborhoods having problems to try and address the issues.
In October, police focused on the Lewis Place and Fountain Park neighborhoods in north city. During that week-long blitz, police made nearly two dozen arrests and recovered three guns.
Police say residents in Tower Grove South and Gravois Park can expect to see both more uniformed officers in marked cars and plain clothes officers in unmarked vehicles during this initiative.
We should learn more specifics about this latest effort at 10:00am Monday when police gather and kick it off.
