Last opportunity to join cancer research study

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – The American Cancer Society is recruiting men and women across the United States and Puerto Rico for a landmark new research study.

stopped by the studio to talk about the last chance for St. Louis residents to contribute to the historic cancer research effort.

The name of the study is Cancer Prevention Study-3, and it will help researchers understand the factors that may cause or prevent cancer.

The final opportunity to enroll in St. Louis is Tuesday, December 3 at Saint Louis University.

Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 30 and 65, with no past diagnosis of cancer.

Participants must be willing to commit to the study for long term and fill out surveys every few years.

Enrollment involves a three-step process.  First, applicants must visit the website, or call to schedule an appointment.

Next, they will be asked to complete a medical survey that lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Finally, applicants must attend their appointment which should last around 20 minutes.  The visit will consist of a second survey, providing a small blood sample, and a waist measurement.

After the process is completed, participants will receive an annual newsletter and survey every few years.
