MO father charged after body of baby found in bucket of concrete

PLEASANT HILL, MO (WDAF) — The father of a baby whose body was discovered two weeks ago encased in concrete in a garage has been arrested and charged with abandonment of a corpse. He is being held in Cass County, Missouri.

Police went to the home November 4 to investigate a report of a stolen automobile and possible illegal drug use. Police also received a tip the woman living in the home had given birth to a child on October 7, and that the child died and was disposed of.

When police arrived at the home, they found the stolen vehicle. Police took Matthew Scroggs, 28, to the police station for questioning. They received his permission to search the home.
