ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- No matter how cold the weather this holiday season, a new light display in St. Louis should warm everyone’s heart. For the first time in more than 150 years the garden is decorated in holiday lights. It’s called Garden Glow.

Adam Jaschek works at the Missouri Botanical Garden.  He and many others put in many hours on the project.  Jaschek said, “We’ve been working on it, well the planning stages for more than a year but installation (started in) July.”

The Climatron is now called the Illumatron, 15,800 white lights outline the structure.  Workers place 100’s of thousands of lights though out the garden.  Jaschek added, “We worked with a professional design company who has many years of experience. They’ve done exhibits throughout the country.”

If the weather turns bitterly cold, there will be plenty of places and food and drink so folks can warm up. Katie O’Sullivan is a spokeswoman for the Missouri Botanical Garden.  She said, “We’re going to have fire pits around the grounds where people can buy and make their own s’mores. Every one of all ages loves s’mores especially this time of year.”

Garden Glow opens next week.
