Florida Georgia Line fastest selling concert at Chaifetz Arena
ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)– Nashville is calling them the biggest country duo to hit the scene since Brooks and Dunn. In the last year Florida Georgia Line has skyrocketed to the top of charts and they did it all with their debut album. Friday they performed to a sold out crowd at Chaifetz Arena.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know their song Cruise, one of the hottest tunes of the summer. The Florida Georgia Line song cruised all the way to the top of the charts and made the tricky crossover from country to top 40. It sold more than Six million downloads and broke the record for the longest number one on the Billboards’ Hot Country Songs Chart. The remix version also included St. Louis’ own Nelly.
“Nelly is a label mate and he’s a fan of the song and we’re fans of his for such a long time and he brought so much life to that remix and it’s crazy were’ still talking about it over a year and a half later. Something very trying to soak and live out and very thank for our fans they’re awesome,” said Brian Kelley.
The Dynamic duo hails from Florida and Georgia, hence the name. But Tennessee is where they met when they attended the same college in Nashville.
“We started writing songs and one thing led to next. We knew we had something special graduated college, hit the road and try to figure this thing out and here we are,” said Tyler Hubbard.
Since their debut album “here’s to the good times” debuted last year it has been certified six times platinum with three #1 singles. They’ve also picked up two CMT music awards are nominated for four CMA’S. To say this year has been a whirlwind is an understatement.
“It’s awesome It’s one thing crazy for us to be there, and go back to CMA’S with 4 nominations , it’s pretty crazy we’re going to celebrate either way it’s a big night for our team,” said Kelley.
Brian adds, “It’s a testament to our fans and how amazing they’ve been. And country radio has been good to use. And we’ve just been getting to work hard this year and stay busyand we’re out here loving it.”
Florida Georgia line is the only country act in history to join Brooks and Dunn in having their first three singles hit #1 for multiple weeks.
Many St. Louis fans were hoping Nelly would make an appearance during Friday’s showbut the duo says he’s in Europe right now.
