Cardinals beat Red Sox 4-2 in Game 2, series tied
(KTVI)– The series is tied after the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 in Game 2 of the World Series.
Matt Holliday hit a triple at the start of the 4th inning. Yadier Molina grounded out to score Holliday. The Cardinals take the lead 1-0 in the 4th.
David Ortiz hit a 2-run home run to the left field scoring Dustin Pedroia. Boston leads 2-1 in the 6th.
Michael Wacha hadn’t allowed two runs in a game since September 19 at Colorado.
The Cardinals pulled off a double steal in the 7th inning. Pete Kozma and Jon Jay took 3rd and 2nd.
Boston walked Daniel Descalso, bases loaded. Matt Carpenter hit a sacrifice fly to score Pete Kozma from third base. Craig Breslow fired it into the stands and Jay scored. Cardinals lead 3-2 in the 7th.
Carlos Beltran singled to right field scoring Descalso. Cardinals are up 4-2 in the 7th.
Carlos Martinez worked around a lead off error with two strikeouts, a single and then stranded two on a pop up to end the 8th inning.
The series heads to St. Louis for Game 3 at Busch Stadium Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
