Plant owners prepare for first frost of fall
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– The first significant frost of the Fall in the St. Louis area is expected overnight Tuesday.
The frost will threaten plants around the area.
Most will survive, but many plants that are not brought inside or covered will be covered with ice crystals Wednesday morning, according to Fox 2 Chief Meteorologist Dave Murray.
“People will want to bring those in over the next 24 hours because they won’t like what’s coming,” Murray said.
Places like Bayer’s Garden Shop in South St. Louis sell plant covers.
“I use it to protect my vegetables, and I like it because it protects them,” Ayanna Faraji said. “I love my plants, and this time of year I am always weary of the frost.”
If you do not want to bring your plants inside, or if you do not have a plant cover a blanketor sheet will work.
