KC’s Boulevard Brewing partners with Belgian company
KANSAS CITY, MO (KTVI) – A Belgian brewer is acquiring Kansas City, Missouri-based Boulevard Brewing Company.
John McDonald, Boulevard’s founder and owner, says the goal for Duvel Moortgat and Boulevard is to maintain the integrity of the company and make as few changes as possible.
McDonald will keep a stake in the company and sit on the board of the Belgian company. He also says no jobs will be lost, if anything, the brewery will be improved. He says the business agreement is a partnership that will stabilize the future of Boulevard.
According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the Boulevard sale now makes St. Louis-based Schlafly the largest locally-owned craft brewer in Missouri. Boulevard is currently the 12th largest craft brewer in the US.
Boulevard is the second largest brewery in Missouri. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the terms of the sale were not disclosed, but industry experts say the deal was worth about $100 million. Read the article here: Belgian brewer buying KC’s Boulevard Brewing
