Shutdown doesn’t stop WWII Vets from visiting Memorial
(KPLR) – The shutdown is forcing the closures of National parks and memorials. Some say the shutdown lead to some civil disobedience in D.C..
200 World War II Veterans from Mississippi and Iowa refused to let the budget battle block their visit to the World War II Memorial. They strolled and rolled past the barricades. National Park police say it was such a sad and touching scene, and they didn’t try to stop the veterans.
One officer said he’s a Veteran himself and couldn’t imagine trying to stop America’s greatest generation.
