You may see yourself in ‘The Middle’
LOS ANGELES, CA (KPLR) – Middle-aged, middle-class and living in the middle of the country. The Middle is a comedy about a Midwest family just trying to make it through the day. FOX 2′S Sandy Miller was recently in Hollywood and visited the set of The Middle. She talked one-on-one with the cast.
Frankie Heck played by two-time Emmy winner Patricia Heaton from Everybody Loves Raymond is a working mom of three.
“So many sitcoms have relied upon the goofy dumb dad and the smart long suffering wife. So, what I like about this show is that unlike Raymond, Frankie got to be the one making most of the mistakes.” said Patirical Heaton.
Frankie also struggles at her job, as the least successful saleswoman in Orson, Indianna’s only surviving car dealer. Then she comes home to her family.
Axl, is the oldest son played by Charlie McDermott. He’s the jock who eats his family out of house and home and walks around in his underwear. I had to ask if he’s anything like his character.
“I guess, I’m like this, if I had to say, I’m not as loud and I wear more clothes.” said Charlie McDermott.
Sue, is the middle child, played by Eden Sher, and, I guess you’d call her exuberant. But, even with that “can do” attitude she never seems to win at anything.
“There are small victories every single episode, so Sue is not a loser in my book.” said Eden Sher.
And, the baby of the family is Brick, played by Atticus Shaffer, an odd kid whose best friend is his backpack.
“This role is fun in particular. It’s like me, I’m very quirky in real life, I don’t even have i-products.” said Atticus Shaffer.
And, finally, her husband Mike, is played by Neil Flynn and he works at a local quarry. There are definite similarities to Everybody Loves Raymond. so, i wonder, who’s the better husband, Mike or Ray?
“As I’ve said before, Brad Pitt is a better husband.” said Patricia Heaton.
But, even without Brad Pitt, the show is family-friendly and has a great message.
“It’s so cool to be on a show that I would have watched in middle school with my family.” said Charlie McDermott.
The Middle, sure sounds like a nice place to be!
