Sec. of State Kerry visits Israel to discuss Syria agreement
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (FOX NEWS) Secretary Of State John Kerry in Israel today (9/15) – to discuss the framework of an agreement on getting rid of Syria’s chemical weapons.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – Kerry saying Syria has one week to submit all information regarding its chemical munitions.
Last week the Assad regime accepted a Russian proposal to turn over its chemical weapons by the middle of next year.
Kerry also says the U.S. is not ruling out military force, should Syria fail to meet its obligations.
John Kerry/ Secretary Of State: “We are not just standing up for a redline the world drew some 100 years ago and which is worth standing up for. Our focus must remain on ending the violence, ending the indiscriminate killing, ending the creation of more and more refugees that is not only tearing Syria apart, but threaten the region itself.”
John Kerry/ Secretary Of State: “The threat of force is real and the Assad regime and all those taking part need to understand the President Obama and the United States are committed to achieve this goal. We cannot have hollow words in the conduct of international affairs.”
Secretary Kerry travels to Paris on Monday (9/16) – to discuss Syria’s chemical arsenal with several world leaders.
