9/11 remembered across country & St. Louis area
O’FALLON, MO (KTVI) – Twelve years ago, America changed forever with the September 11th attacks. On this emotional anniversary, many events are taking place around the St. Louis area to mark what is now known as Patriot Day.
One of the first tributes Wednesday will take place at the 9/11 Memorial outside the O’Fallon, Missouri police department at 8:30 a.m. It was created with steel from the World Trade Center and is called, “A Tribute to First Responders.”
There will be speakers along with a rifle salute, a moment of silence and an opportunity to place flowers at the memorial. Then at exactly 9:11 a.m., one of the more well-known 9/11 tributes will start.
The annual March to the Arch will begin at Mike Duffy’s at 141 and Clayton Road in West County and will end at the base of the Arch. It’s a 21 mile walk to remember the victims of September 11. There are several other events taking place.
