Heat Advisory issued for St. Louis Area
(KPLR) – A huge dome of blocking High Pressure is dominating the weather across the U.S. This has prompted the National Weather Sevice to issue a Heat Advisory for the metro area through at least Saturday. The dome is re-circulating and heating the air from the Ohio Valley to the Rockies.
Each day will see highs of 95-100 degrees, with heat indices 101 to 105.
The prolonged heat is more dangerous due to the lack of cool-downs in the metro area at night, with lows of 75-80 degrees.
Coupled with the heat is the lack of rain that not only cleans the air, but also provides clouds for shade. Unhealthy air quality levels are expected into the weekend as well. In addition, the 6-10 day Outlook for next week calls for below normal chances for rain and above normal temperatures.
