(KPLR) - A foggy start presented some challenges for morning drivers.  Pockets of fog settled around area highways Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service said some areas in the Metro East near the Mississippi River were down to visibilities between a quarter of a mile and a mile. There were no advisories issued.

Illinois State Police reported areas of dense fog and urged drivers to use caution on the roads.  The good news is that both Illinois State Police and the Missouri Highway Patrol were reporting no crashes due to fog early Wednesday.

MoDOT did put up caution messages up on its dynamic billboards warning drivers about the fog.
