Two Separate Accidents Send People to the Hospital
ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – St. Louis police said a bus and an Impala crashed on Jefferson Avenue at Interstate 44 around 12:15 Wednesday morning. According to the St. Louis Fire Department, four people were hurt.
Two bus passengers went to the hospital with minor injuries. A third passenger on the bus was treated at the scene and refused to go to the hospital. The driver of the Impala went to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Things were much more serious just over an hour later in North St. Louis. Police found a Pontiac Grand Prix on Goodfellow Boulevard near Dressel Avenue. The sedan was almost unrecognizable. Police said the driver crashed into a concrete planter used to separate the north and southbound lanes of Goodfellow.
According to the fire department, crews had to cut the 28-year-old driver from the car. Medics rushed him to the hospital in critical condition. His 29-year-old male passenger was also rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
The fire department said the driver is expected to survive. Police said he was trying to avoid hitting another car, whose driver left the scene.
