ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A dog that was allegedly torched and abused has died. The St. Louis Animal Cruelty Task Force says the dog, named "Brownie," was found tethered to a short, heavy chain on Thursday with burns all over its face and body.

"Brownie" was found in the 4300 block of Cote Brillante and was immediately taken to Veterinary Specialty Service, but did not survive.

“When I got the call he passed away, all I could do was cry and then pray for the strength to make sure justice is served,” said Randy Grim, Founder of Stray Rescue. “This is one of the saddest and worst cases I have ever dealt with.”

Task Force investigators are hoping that someone knows what happened to "Brownie" that can help with their investigation. Stray Rescue and CrimeStoppers are working together to provide a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved.
