Small Missouri town rocked by murder and arrest

IBERIA, MO. (KPLR) - In the small Missouri town of Iberia, an arrest has been following the weekend murder of a 13 year old girl.  And police didn’t have to travel far from the victim's home to find the suspect.

Iberia is in Miller County, about 140 miles southwest of St. Louis.

13 year old Macala Shelton was last seen Friday night at her home in Iberia.

A missing person report was issued Saturday afternoon, shortly after her grandmother went to wake her up and found her bed empty.

Sunday her body was found in a wooded area on an abandoned farm near Iberia.

There’s been to arrests in her murder, her uncle, 30 year old Steven Henderson,  who has been charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

Henderson reportedly has admitted to fatally stabbing the teenager with a large knife.

Media reports say he is Macala's uncle and they lived in the same home.

Henderson's brother and the father of the victim, Jerry Henderson has also been arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Bail for Steven Henderson was set at half a million dollars.

Bond for Macala's father is $50,000.
