FESTUS, MO (KTVI)-- On Friday 13-year-old Trevor Foreshee and Charles Declue met for the first time. This after the Trevor found something important that belonged to Declue.

The teenager and his father stopped by a Phillips 66 along I-55 in Festus for a soda and when Trevor came out of the store he found $750 on the ground. In deciding to do the right thing Trevor turned the money in to Festus Police. Officers tracked down the owner who returned to the store and gave the money back.

According to Declue he was using the money to buy tires for his car from Craigslist, he also says the teenager renewed his faith in humanity.

"I went back in and I called the cops, they showed up 20 minutes later and took the money. What if it was vacation money or money for a fund or something," said Foreshee.

"The reason I had all of the money is I had been checking Craigslist to find a set of wheels and tires for my car and I had intended to meet with someone," said Declue.

Declue doubled Trevor`s reward to $200 when he found out the youngster was donating it to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, an illness the teen battles every day.

Family members also say Trevor saved a 2-year-old from a drowning two weeks ago in Florida. As for Mr. Declue he says he might pay by money order from now on.
