ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A partial sewer collapse at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson Avenues in downtown St. Louis is slowing traffic.  The westbound lanes of Washington avenue will be closed as sewer crews work to repair the line.

MSD does not know what the caused of the 150-year-old sewer to collapse at this time.  The sewer is about 20 feet below ground and covers about a six by four foot area.

The Metropolitan Sewer District says that there has been no disruptions in service.
