WENTZVILLE, MO (KTVI)- What police first thought was a potential standoff ended today as a tragedy officers are still working to explain. Shots fired inside a home in the 200 block of Niagra Drive injured a teenage boy and took his mother's life.
Police say the wounded teen called 9-1-1. His mother, 44-year old Laurie Anderson, was found dead of gunshot wounds inside the home.
Wentzville Police Chief Lisa Harrison said, “Officers arrived at 3:39 on scene and found a juvenile victim on the ground, on the driveway bleeding from his wounds. The Officers actually were very concerned for his safety. We didn't know what happened. Officers dragged the victim to the next driveway and then picked the victim up and carried him to the ambulance.”
Chief Harrison continued, “We called out the St. Charles County regional SWAT team. They did respond. Subsequent investigation by the SWAT team determined there was a second victim inside the residence. That victim is deceased."
