CREVE COUER, MO (KPLR)-- Crushed by cold weather then rain and snow, the Desmet High School baseball season is suffering.
This has been one tough season for outdoor high school sports, especially softball and baseball.
All too often it seems like their field of dreams have turned into fields of mud and in some cases snow.
Since the start of the season, they`ve battled through nearly 8' of rain.
They also had a string of games cancelled because of the record snow in late March.
And even when they have been able to get out on the field, the weather has rarely been pleasant. Temperatures have run below normal, in most cases well below normal, for 27 of the last 40 days since the start of the season.
Well, they are only playing one Thursday but maybe they should play two. The weather forecast swings another chance for rain our way Friday, hopefully that will be the last of the unsettled weather, somehow I don`t think that`s the case.
