(KPLR) – If you are fed up over developers and city's using TIF’s to build projects, there might be a solution.

The City of St. Ann hopes tax increment financing will allow a developer to breathe new life into the area where a thriving shopping mall slowly declined over time.

There's been a lot of debate over TIF’s and whether they do more harm than good.

Maybe we should take note of the toy store in Edwardsville that nearly went under.

Loyal customers donated thousands of dollars to help the store owners make a debt payment to keep the doors open.

They didn't ask taxpayers to put money up front like some other developments do.

Now that's how you do it.
