Police Officer Injured On Way To Work

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A St. Louis city police officer is in the hospital Friday after he was injured on his way to work.

The officer is being treated at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was taken from the scene in critical but stable condition. He sustained a broken leg and a concussion.

The accident happened around 11:00pm Thursday near the intersection of Hampton and Milentz Avenue in south St. Louis.

Police say the officer was on his way to work when a car turned in front of the officer.

Police in the area escorted him to the hospital.

His name has not been released. He has been a St. Louis police officer since 1993.

The driver of the other vehicle injured his hand and refused treatment.
