It Maybe Spring, But It Doesn’t Feel Like It
CLAYTON, MO. (KPLR) – Even though the calendar says spring, It doesn’t feel like it and the 30 degree weather makes it tougher to enjoy something you look forward to all year; like playing a little baseball.
News 11′s Melanie Moon was at Shaw Park where Clayton high and Chaminade are playing one of their first game of the season.
Though the temperature was 20 degrees below normal Wednesday, it didn’t stop the baseball game from being played. Players remembered last year at this time the temperature was 83 degrees.
But the bats are swinging, parents and students have arrived to watch Clayton high take on Chaminade.
But the weather isn’t cooperating, leaving everyone shivering on this 2nd day of spring.
The player’s say this is a spring sport and having to play with aluminum baseball bats in cold weather is not just uncomfortable but can be painful.
But fear not, forecasters are predicting normal spring temperatures and above normal precipitation.
So that’s good news when we remember how dry it was last spring and summer.
