NEW YORK, NY. (KPLR) – And the onslaught of threats from North Korea has sparked talk from South Korea for the need to develop its own nuclear weapons.

Larry Mendte questions what it took for the world to finally start giving North Korea a little more attention.

There is a crazy guy down the street who threatens his neighbors every once and awhile, but everybody ignores him because he’s crazy.

And then he fires a gun in the air and now it`s time to take him seriously.
That`s how I feel about the young punk who inherited the seat of power in North Korea from his equally insane daddy.

Kim Jong Un has threatened the United States with a nuclear missile strike, he has cancelled the armistice that kept peace between North and South Korea and he has threatened to annihilate South Korea.

And everyone just thought he was crazy, how can you take a guy seriously who engages in peace talks with Dennis Rodman.

And then he fired a gun in the air.

Specifically North Korea fired a missile into the Sea of Japan, a little too close to Japan for everyone`s comfort.

And now we are taking him very seriously.

Even though North Korea doesn`t currently have a missile capable of hitting the U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is setting up a new missile defense system in California and Alaska in response to North Korea.

We are also beefing up our military presence along the border with South Korea and in the waters off North Korea.

Kim Jong wanted to get our attention, he just did.

This is all seen as a warning right now; no one wants to fight the Korean war part two, the fear is that Kim Jong is so irrational he might just do something suicidal, like attack South Korea at which point we would be forced to attack.

There was just an assassination attempt on his life.  He`s scheduled to go on vacation with Dennis Rodman, maybe he can talk some sense into him.

Or we will fulfill his dream of one Korea, only he won`t be in charge.
