106-Year-Old Woman Gets Diploma
COLUMBUS, OH (KTVI) - One Ohio woman recently had a great, great graduation ceremony.
Reba Williams, 106, received her diploma after 88 years of recess from her senior year of high school. It was a single book report that kept Williams from graduating according to the Mansfield News Journal.
MNJ says in 1925, Reba had refused to do her senior English class book report because she had already read the assigned book. When school officials learned of her story they decided to aid Williams in finally closing the book on high school.
The senior citizen was granted her diploma for completion of her senior year at a ceremony held at her apartment. Friends and family were present to see her become a Mount Vernon Graduate.
This isn’t the first time a 106-year-old woman was awarded a high school diploma. In 2009, an Illinois woman, Lottie Rhoades, received her diploma at a birthday ceremony held at the Friendship Village retirement community in Schaumburg, Illinois.
