Insight Into New Pope Francis
(KPLR) – Pope Francis did call his predecessor, Pope Benedict the 16th, soon after his election as the church’s new pontiff.
Catholics around the world are eager to learn more about Pope Francis and how he will lead the church. Dan Gray was joined by Father Fadi Auro, Associate Pastor of Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield for get some insight to the new Pope Francis, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina being selected as pope.
It’s an exciting time for the Catholic Church, but there have been challenges, calls for reform, sex abuse scandal.
What does it mean that Pope Francis is from the Americas and he is the first Jesuit pope?
Reports say he has long specialized in pastoral work; he has a humility that cardinals apparently valued very highly.
Sergio Rubin, the official biographer for Cardinal Bergoglio, and wrote the book, “The Jesuit” says he will likely encourage the church’s four-hundred thousand priests to hit the streets to capture more souls.
The biographer also says, he is most comfortable taking a low profile, but he’s now in the Vatican spotlight.
