Bernthal-The Way It Oughta Be: Walmart Employee Stops Elderly Scam

(KPLR) – Some age old scams just won`t go away.  

It`s heartbreaking when you hear about a scammer taking money from an innocent victim.  The victims are usually elderly and they`re usually the nicest people you would ever meet.

Recently it almost happened again but a quick thinking Walmart employee saved the day.  The targeted victim received a phone call saying her son living in California had been arrested in Mexico.  The caller said he needed $2,100 to get out of jail.

The woman went to her Walmart to have the money taken out but the quick thinking employee smelled something funny and thankfully talked her out of it.

Here`s the sad part.  We all know those scammers will find another victim somewhere else.

I wish crime fighters could do more to track them down.  These crimes are hard to trace but I wish they were a priority.

Losing money is one thing but when it`s someone who has worked their entire life to save some, that`s another.
