ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – One lane of westbound I-255 on the Jefferson Barracks bridge is being closed for urgent repairs. MoDOT says that construction crews are repairing an expansion joint.  They say the work is being done to improve safety and prevent further damage.

Roadwork will last through rush-hour until midnight. Please find an alternative route to avoid delays. MoDOT predicts all lanes will be open for the Friday morning rush.

The last time road crews did this construction job traffic was backed up to Cahokia.

MoDOT also says your commute may be slower along I-270 southbound this year because of work between Manchester and Interstate 44.

MoDOT announced that work begins March 18th.

The goal is for it to be done by the end of the year with an added southbound lane on I-270, matching the new northbound lane installed last year.

During construction, traffic will be stopped daily at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. while dynamite is set off.
