DUMBARTON, SCOTLAND – Night shift workers at the Chivas Brothers bottling plant were recently left with a little explaining to do. A routine cleaning allegedly led to the discharge of about 18,000 liters of whiskey down the drain.
Workers were supposed to be emptying waste water when they instead drained gallons of the strong spirit according to the BBC. The mix-up wasn’t discovered until 11:00am the next day by officials at the Scotland based plant.
Scottish water officials were said to be already investigating the blunder when they were contacted by the Chivas Brothers company. Investigation is now continuing into the process of the company’s procedures for cleaning and discarding waste water into the sewer system.
