Bowling Green Hit With More Than 9 Inches Of Snow
BOWLING GREEN, MO (KPLR)– There are tons of snow piles all over Bowling Green and some are more than 6 to 10 feet tall.
FOX 2 cameras rolled through town and found people on the streets and sidewalks. Many were shoveling and plowing the more than 10 inches of snow they got from Thursday`s snow storm.
The Bowling Green police had 15 assistance calls and the Pike County Sheriff`s Office says they assisted over 100 stranded vehicles and side offs. There are also reports of whiteout conditions for over an hour on 61. Residents like Joe Turnaugh says moving the snow is giving him a workout while clearing his driveway.
“I think a lot of people got smart they grocery stored went in an hunkered in and waited for it to end and then start digging g out,” Said Turnbaugh.
Steven Sparks of Sparks Maintenance Contracting says his company has been working around the clock. “Last night there were a lot of people in ditches and stranded along the highways,” said Sparks.
Fortunately the sheriff says there weren`t any injury accidents from the storm. They also brought in extra staff to help out along with the assistance of the Missouri Conservation Department.
