Snow Storm Headed To St. Louis; Accumulation Up To 6″

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLT) – A significant winter storm is taking aim on the St. Louis area.  A wintery mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will accompany the storm.  The precipitation will start as snow and sleet beginning about 9am for Metro St. Louis and then transition to sleet & freezing rain about Noon time.

Snow and sleet accumulations will be 1″ to 3″ for Metro St. Louis with as much as 6″ for areas to the Northwest like bowling Green and Troy, MO.  Freezing rain and sleet glazing will be about .1″ to .2″ for the metro area with a bit more south.

The heaviest precipitation will fall during mid-afternoon.  The storm should exit the area around midnight leaving behind hazardous travel, a few power outages and some school closings.  Untreated roadways, driveways, sidewalks, windshields, bridge surfaces and overpasses will become icy.
