Bernthal – The Way It Oughta Be: Unemployment Benefits

(KPLR) – Should some unemployed workers be disqualified from unemployment benefits.

It`s one of those big ideas that divides a lot of people.  Just how generous should we be with those who are out of work?

Well maybe there`s a way to find some united ground.

I know people who needed unemployment benefits to survive and have used them to help them find work.

Some people feel we`re too generous.  Well maybe it`s not that.  Maybe we just need to be more selective.

For example some Missouri lawmakers want to change the law to make it a little different to qualify for unemployment.  

For example taxpayers paid unemployment to one worker who was fired for urinating in another worker`s coffee.

I don`t know about you, but I’m not sure they deserve unemployment.

But there are plenty of people who do.

Maybe democrats and republicans should form a bi-partisan committee to sort things out so some the rhetoric can be toned down.
