(KPLR) – It's still legal in Missouri, but should texting and driving be allowed.

When I started driving the only distraction was the cassette player for some of you maybe it was the 8-track.  But now there are too many potential distractions.

The big one centers around the phone.  I don't know how people do it but I see them nearly ever day texting and driving.

Why anyone would feel safe looking away from the road is baffling.  Maybe it's because they've gotten away with it once or twice and so now they feel invincible.

Maybe it's because they've seen someone else do it.  Illinois has outlawed texting and driving unless you use a voice activated function, it's against the law for young drivers to text and drive in Missouri.

Two Missouri lawmakers have introduced bills that would stretch the ban to all ages.

I hope it passes.  Then I hope it’s enforced.  If not, a new law won't make a difference.

I'm JB and that's The Way It Oughta Be.
