Missouri Rep. Wants To Ban Texting And Driving

ST. LOUIS, MO.(KPLR) – Missouri is one of 11 states that still allow some drivers to text and drive and one state legislator wants to change that.

State Rep. Michele Kratky. (D) St. Louis, has introduced a bill that would outlaw texting and driving for all drivers, no matter their age.

House Bill 394 would allow for hand free texting which is done with voice activation technology.

“When you’re texting and driving it’s almost like having a blindfold on while you are driving,” said Kratky.

Drivers we spoke with think texting and driving should be outlawed for all ages but some had questions about how effective passing a new law would be.

“I do think though it will be difficult to enforce if passed,” said Kathleen Dwyer.

Illinois bans texting and driving for all ages.
