(KPLR) – Valentine’s Day is this Thursday and maybe you should consider roses, candy and discussing finances with your loved one.

Jeff Duncan from Duncan Financial Management talks about the importance of finding the financial compatibility with your partner.

 He says many couples don’t discuss financial issues until they find themselves in an argument. Duncan suggests merging accounts to save on bank fees, double checking that you are only carrying one renter’s or homeowner’s policy, and consider purchasing disability and life insurance to protect your partner in case of those unlikely events.

 It may not seem romantic, but avoiding a talk like this could cost you.
