(KPLR) – The Vatican has announced that Pope Benedict The Sixteenth will step down at the end of this month. The announcement has taken many by surprise, even those with a close connection to the Vatican.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s mother Shirley didn’t even know about the Pope’s announcement until Fox 2′s John Pertzborn asked what she thought about her son being considered as a possible replacement.
