Man Dies In Crash, Another Clings to Life

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) –  A car crash in North St. Louis killed one man overnight and left a second fighting for his life. St. Louis firefighters and paramedics rushed to the corner of Page Boulevard and Vandeventer Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say a 28-year-old white male driver was heading east on Page in his Mazda 3.  Luss Bradford, 58, of the 4600 Block of Roxie, was heading north on Vandeventer in his Chevy Cavalier. Police say the Mazda sideswiped a Pontiac Sunfire, driven by a woman in her 50s, and slammed into Bradford’s car.

The Mazda also hit a parked Ford Econoline van.  Bradford was ejected and died at the scene.  The woman was not hurt.

Paramedics found the 28-year-old still alive in his car. But, city firefighters said he was trapped. Once rescuers cut him out, paramedics rushed him Barnes Hospital, while accident reconstruction investigators kept the intersection shut down for about two and half hours.

At last check, that man was in critical but stable condition.

No official word on a cause.
