Mother Charged With Murder Over Toddler’s Overdose On Morphine

(KPLR) – A St. Louis County mother faces first degree murder charges after her toddler overdosed on morphine. 

Prenise Payne, 22, is being held in the county jail on a $150,000 cash only bond.

Her 19-month-old son, Jace Echoles, was found unresponsive in his mother’s bed on December 2nd.

An autopsy showed that Jace was given a fatal dose of morphine.

Payne was arrested and charged on Saturday.
