The Way It Oughta Be: One Party Rule In St. Louis City

(KPLR) – There will be something missing at Tuesday nights St. Louis mayoral candidate forum.

The candidates will meet at 7:00 pm at the main city library.

Here’s JB with The Way It Oughta Be.

It’s not my place to endorse one candidate or another but I can tell you something I find disturbing about the city’s political process.

In St. Louis city there’s a one party choice.  When it comes the Mayor’s race Republicans are not even running a candidate this time around.

You could argue it’s a sign that no one thinks they can defeat the current mayor.  But here’s the fallout from one party rule.

You would be hard pressed to find a democrat willing to take on the current mayor.  That’s because anyone taking on the mayor from within his own party could face some serious retribution.

I know the city is a heavily democratic region.  But it doesn’t mean the other party should give up.
