Musial Funeral Crowds Number In The Thousands

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) -  Thousands of cardinals fans, along with family and friends said farewell to hall-of-famer Stan Musial on Saturday.  13,000 people filled the Cathedral Basilica for his funeral.  There were readings by his grandchildren, and music from a children’s choir.

Many in attendance were sports celebrities, including slugger Albert Pujols  and Bob Costas who Stan asked to deliver his eulogy.

From the Cathedral, the procession headed to Busch Stadium where a crowd of 1,500 fans were waiting. The Musial family laid a wreath next to his statue.  

The emotional crowd spontaneously broke into “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” for the Musial family.
