Bernthal-The Way It Oughta Be: Paying For The Fiscal Cliff

(KPLR) – One of our viewers expressed some frustration to me the other day.  He wanted to know how much money was spent on the 2012 election and what a shame it is that all that money couldn’t have been used to do some good.

For example, the so-called fiscal cliff required some budget cutting and even more tax increasing.

The presidential candidates and their supporters spent more than 2 billion dollars on campaigns that ended up with a result that a lot of pundits predicted before the race ever started.

One analysis of the fiscal cliff deal estimated the savings on cuts at about 2 billion dollars.

That’s right, the amount spent on the presidential election.  It just doesn’t make sense that we spend so much money electing folks because we don’t have enough money to run the country.

There must be a better way.

I’m JB and that’s The Way It Oughta Be.
