ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- The New Year is only a few days old and already it seems bank robbers are going to be as busy in 2013 as they were in 2012.
Security cameras at a Des Peres Schnucks caught a suspect robbing a US Bank Thursday morning. Witnesses said the suspect was acting suspicious before the crime.
Captain Charles Milano with the Des Peres Police said, "Kind of fidgety he was seen by several customers too, just kind of looked like something wasn`t right.'"
He said the suspect handed the teller a threatening not but did not show a weapon. Captain Milano said, "Give me all the money in large bills and you won`t be hurt."
Bank employees seemed certain the suspect is the same bank robber as the one who held them up in November. Back then he apparently tried to disguise himself by wearing a wig. Police wonder if he`s also a wig wearing bandit who hit a bank in High Ridge in October.
The Bandit Tracker web site reports last year the area was just one short of tying the bank robbery record of 2002.
Since August at least ten holdups have occurred at banks inside of supermarkets. Police have a theory as to why those places are becoming popular targets.
Captain Milano said, "They can blend in easier and not stand out it`s easier to case it make their observations maybe pick a time when they want to do their robbery."
