Edwardsville Police Investigating MIZZOU Student’s Death

EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KTVI)– A Lafayette High School graduate and MIZZOU student fell, but the coroner says the fall is not what killed him and it’s unclear what did.

The Madison County Coroner reports 20-year-old Michael Heney had only a minor head injury and a broken nose. Toxicology tests will now be done. Results could take 4 to 6 weeks.

Friends of Michael Heney say he was a great guy with a sense of humor. It`s a tragedy they`re still trying to deal with on campus.

FOX 2 stopped by the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house at MIZZOU to talk to friends about his life. Former roommate Matt Searcy pledged with Heney and says he was a great guy who got along with everyone he met.

The MIZZOU business major loved art and music. He died after a fall at a home in Edwardsville on New Year’s Day.

Edwardsville police are still investigating the case.  Pi Kappa Phi fraternity is in the process of planning a memorial service to honor their friend.
