Bernthal – New Illinois Bike Laws
ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – I had no idea that Illinois lawmakers were busy in 2012 working on some interesting new laws.
For example, Illinois bikers can no longer pop a wheelie. Repeat offenders could spend time in jail.
That doesn’t make as much sense as something lawmakers did last year.
Last year a law was passed giving bikers the green light to run a red light in certain circumstances.
That’s right, as long as the traffic is clear, bikers can head through a red light if the sensor under the road fails to detect the bike.
The reason is that motorcycles are so much lighter than cars that they don’t set off sensors under the road that change lights from red to green.
So I guess it makes sense. So maybe it’s every other year when the law makes sense.
Good luck in 2013.
I’m JB and that’s the way it oughta be.
