St. Louis, MO (KPLR) It’s the season for holiday shopping. And a Missouri lawmaker is trying to put a hold on Black Friday shopping on Thanksgiving. House member Jeff Roorda from Barnhart is planning legislation that would prohibit retail stores from being open on Thanksgiving. He is calling it the “Thanksgiving Family Protection Act”. Roorda doesn’t want the holiday to become “Black Friday Eve”. Eestaurants, gas stations and drug stores would be exempt from closure.
