ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A country fan frenzy Tuesday night as thousands filled the Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis to see Carrie Underwood perform.

Many screaming fans gathered outside the arena long before the doors opened.  Many walked up, dressed in their cowboy best, while a DJ led some line dances and country karaoke.  But the St. Louis show wasn’t only special for the fans.

On twitter, Underwood reminded fans that it was in this city, eight years ago, where she got her big break with an American Idol audition. It’s something local fans are proud of.

Belleville, IL resident Amanda Tharp says, “I knew that, I watched that series. She’s amazing, I’ve always loved her. She’s my favorite.”

Concertgoer Olivia Brinkmann adds, “That’s what we thought was really cool: that she started here, and so that’s really cool that she’s performing here again.”

A lot of fans, many of them teenage girls, also went to the concert to see country heartthrob Hunter Hayes, who opened for Underwood.

Despite the lack of hockey games this year, concerts like Tuesday’s have been keeping the Scottrade Center fairly busy. Paul McCartney and Madonna performed at the venue within the past few weeks, and the Guns ‘N Hoses charity boxing tournament fill the Scottrade Center Wednesday evening.
